Fiddler Legacy Instructions¶
Last updated: 2026-03-08
Purpose: If you are reading this printed page, someone has passed or become incapacitated. These instructions will get you into the digital documentation system where all other instructions live.
Step 1: Access the Documentation Site¶
All detailed instructions are hosted at:
Open this URL in any web browser. No login is required — it is accessible from any device on the home network.
Once there, navigate to Legacy Instructions and follow the steps in order, starting with Step 0: Prerequisites.
Step 2: If the Docs Site Is Down¶
If https://docs.fiddlers.cloud does not load, try these fallbacks in order:
Option A — Access directly via local IP¶
The docs are served from the Synology NAS on the home network. Try:
This only works from a device connected to the home Wi-Fi (network name: Sherlock Holmes).
Option B — Read the source files on GitHub, GitLab, or Gitea¶
The documentation source files are also stored on GitHub, GitLab, and Gitea:
https://github.com/SudoEvan/fiddler_docs https://gitlab.com/evan.fiddler/fiddler_docs https://git.fiddlers.cloud/evan.fiddler/fiddler_docs (same server as docs, so if docs are down this may also be down)
- Log in to GitHub/GitLab using Evan's credentials (in Bitwarden — see passwords below).
- Browse to
docs/mkdocs/legacy/— all instructions are readable as plain text files or rendered markdown within GitHub/GitLab.
Option C — Ask for technical help¶
If none of the above work, contact someone technical (a family friend, IT professional, or the estate attorney—John Van Enk should understand this process) and share the GitHub URL and Bitwarden credentials. They can recover everything from the repository.
Master Passwords¶
Write these by hand after printing. NEVER type them into this file.
Evan's Bitwarden Master Password¶
Login email: bitwarden@evanfiddler.com
Master Password:
<replace with actual password>
MFA: YubiKey is the main MFA for Evan's Bitwarden; One is plugged into Evan's keyboard (USB-C), the second is on Evan's car keychain.
MFA Recovery Code:
<replace with actual recovery code>
Hope's Bitwarden Master Password¶
Login email: hope.fiddler+bitwarden@protonmail.com
Master Password:
<replace with actual password>
MFA Recovery Code:
<replace with actual recovery code>
What Bitwarden Unlocks¶
Once you have Bitwarden access, you can find credentials for everything else:
- Proton email — Primary family email (fiddlers.cloud)
- Apple ID — iCloud, HomeKit, App Store, Apple One
- Google accounts — Business Workspace accounts
- Cloudflare — Domain management for all family and business domains
- Vultr — Cloud server hosting
- Banking & financial logins
- Subscription service logins
- Home network admin portals
- All other accounts
Search in Bitwarden by service name or email address to find any credential.
High-Level Checklist¶
If you cannot access the docs site, here is a summary of what to do (in order):
- Get into Bitwarden using the master password above.
- Get into Proton email — Change the catch-all on
fiddlers.cloudto route all email to Hope's inbox. Credentials are in Bitwarden. - Do NOT cancel subscriptions or services immediately. Review the full list in the docs before making changes. Some services (domains, hosting, email) are critical for business continuity.
- Contact key business clients — Evan manages websites/domains for several businesses. They need to be notified and transitioned. See the Business Interests section in the docs.
- Secure financial accounts — Banking, credit cards, and investment accounts. Credentials are in Bitwarden.
- Contact the estate attorney — Info is in Bitwarden under a secure note.
